When guests are staying at your hotel, you want them to feel welcome, comfortable, and relaxed. The key to achieving this feeling is done by renovating and updating every inch of the rooms you offer. If a hotel bathroom is not up to a guest’s standards, then chances are, they will not do business with you again.
If you’re thinking about starting a large renovation project to overhaul your hotel’s bathrooms, check out our previous blog, “Planning the Best Hotel Renovation.” It will walk you through the initial steps of the process that you will need to take before the fun part of the work begins.
If you’re not sure that you want to remodel, consider the following:
1. Bathroom Remodels Give You A Leg Up
A nicer bathroom can set you apart from your competition. Put yourself in your guests’ shoes for a moment. It’s been a long day in business meetings, or they’re hot and sandy from a day on the beach. They’ll want to take a nice shower to relax and a large enough bathroom to help them unwind and stretch out.
If the bathroom is dark and cramped, it won’t promote that feeling of relaxation. Most importantly, it could drive them away from your business and toward your competitor for their future visits.
We at AmBath are experienced with hotel renovation. We have more than 35 years of service and have completed over 1,000,000 bathroom remodels. We can provide speedy and affordable renovations, such as custom shower base liners made from solid surface aggregate, cast marble, or solid surface polymer.
Or, if your bathrooms are open and clean, think of technological advances. A heated towel rack, mirror televisions, make-up mirrors, quartz countertops, updated and sleek bathroom fixtures, a bidet, or heated toilet seats are unique features that your competition won’t think of offering.
2.Increased Sustainability
A renovated bathroom has less of a carbon footprint. The American Water Works Association found that U.S. hotels use an average of 382-787 liters per room per day. To compare, the average household uses 315 liters per day.
If you have a bathtub in rooms, convert them to showers to increase your sustainability.
In addition to being more sustainable, a renovated bathroom with new showerheads, toilets and sinks could help reduce your water bill.
It also adds a new advertising point for your hotel that your competition may not have!
3. It Adds Value To Your Hotel
Renovations can be costly, but one that is planned and executed on a strict budget can increase the value of your hotel.
It also adds a visual appeal to your rooms. Many of the world’s finest hotels are sleek, streamlined, and seamless.
Wall surrounds and bath liners made with high-quality acrylic materials come in a range of gorgeous designs, colors, and patterns that closely resemble high-end materials. They’re easy to clean, durable, and are built to last.
Bathtubs: Replace, Refinish, Reline or Convert
You can do four things to outdated bathtubs: replace them, refinish them, reline them, or convert them into showers.
Replacing a bathtub is costly and timely, though it can drastically change the look of a bathroom.
Refinishing, also called reglazing, is where a contractor sands down the existing coating, fills any chips or scratches with epoxy and then reapplies the finish and polish. This process is more affordable but produces a strong odor that requires ventilation to disperse. Due to the smell, it can take several days to complete. The finished product is less durable too; it only lasts a few years.
The third option is to use an acrylic bathtub liner installed on top of the existing bathtub.
Or, you can choose to update the bathroom by converting the tub to a shower. This maximizes the space in your hotel’s bathroom while increasing safety (there is less risk of a guest slipping and falling in a shower versus a bathtub), and a majority of guests prefer to use showers when in a hotel.
Wall-Surrounds
Wall surrounds are another remodeling option. We offer wall surrounds made of cast marble, solid surface polymer, large format porcelain tile, or standard tile. These materials are affordable, durable, easy to clean, are grout-free, and look great.
No guest wants to step into a shower and question how clean it is, so renovating your shower wall surrounds to such materials will only increase guest satisfaction.
